Party and Play at Versus Barcade

Like I said in my previous blog post, I prefer eating in a place I haven’t been to when there’s a chance. There are very few restaurants that I’m willing to go back to when we eat out. Just recently, there’s a new addition to my go-to list—Versus Barcade in Uptown Parade, BGC.

Game face on (Pinball lang naman nilalaro lol)
Versus Barcade is—from what you can gather from the name itself—a bar and arcade where you can drink, order food, and play arcade games. The thing I love most about Versus Barcade is that there’s no minimum purchase (just don’t be kapal and not order anything) and no maximum number of hours of stay which means you can pretty much play the whole night and bring out your competitive self without worrying about losing all your money on games and being kicked out—think unlimited Timezone (or Quantum for probinsyanos like me lol).

The bar slash arcade is what you look for in a hangout place: there are a lot of games to play, they have great music (there’s a DJ), and–the most important thing of all for soshal climbers like me—the whole place is instagrammable!

From what I can remember, they have Pac-Man (including Galaga, Mrs. Pac-Man, and Jr. Pac-Man), Pinball (Batman, Spider-Man, and Ghostbusters), electronic darts, Mario Kart, Final Fantasy, The Simpsons, Street Fighter, and Tekken. They also have a shuffleboard and Star Wars- and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed arcade games.

The best games for me are still Pac-Man and Pinball. It was my first time playing Pac-Man (!!! I’m still young, you know) and I would have to say I can spend hours just playing this classic. Using the Pinball machine is like being back in grade school and looking forward to going home to spend the afternoon playing in front of the computer.

We initially considered going to iDash but I’m glad we chose this place instead because they also have electronic darts on the second floor. I think we spent two hours just playing darts (so that was two hours of throwing and bending down).

On to the food… (I’ll be using this phrase on all food-related posts from now on hehe)

Creamy Carbonara (PhP 300)
If you go with a friend, the most sulit meal to order is their Creamy Carbonara. It’s indeed very creamy and I especially love the garlic bread that comes with it. One order is already good for two people.

Triple Play (L-R): kwek kwek, pork sisig, beef salpicao (PhP 800)

The next sulit order is their promo called Triple Play where you can choose two appetizers and one main dish. We chose kwek kwek and pork sisig as appetizers, and beef salpicao as the main dish. The kwek kwek and pork sisig taste good but damn son, their beef salpicao is out of this world. The meat is so tender and the inside is perfectly cooked. Infernez, the serving was also hefty.

The next sentence is going to be very disappointing if you’re looking for a review on their drinks… I wasn’t able to try their mixed drinks. In my defense, I wanted to be completely sober while playing the arcade games (the competitive side of me just naturally came out).

TL;DR:
What’s good – beef salpicao, good music, unlimited playing hours of arcade games, friendly staff (they even helped us decorate the place for a birthday surprise!)

Pro-tip: They have game nights called 1UP Wednesdays hosted by DJ Euric! Not sure if the rules are the same for all game nights but when we went there, there were three rounds: trivia game, drinking game, and singing game. We won first place and won a bottle of Absolut vodka, caps from New Era Cap PH, and a huge first place trophy (which we had to return lol). It. Was. So. Much. Fun.

It sounds awfully weird but Verus Barcade really is my new happy place (natalo na ang S&R). It’s a haven for gamers and non-gamers alike who just want to chill, have fun, and impress your friends with your trashtalking skills! Go eat, drink, and play and let me know what you think!

Versus Barcade is located at the Ground Floor, Uptown Parade, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. For updates, like them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram. For reservations, you may call them at +6328390302.
