Plant a million trees with a single like!

Shoutout to everyone who has an account on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!

I’m not exactly proud of this but there are days when I spend hours on social media, which means hours of zero productivity. A few nights ago, I stumbled upon one of my friends’ stories on Instagram where she shared a post that said “double tap to plant a tree.” My first thought was finally, another way to use social media for good!

Based in Canada, tentree is a brand that sells sustainable lifestyle apparel. They plant ten trees for every product purchased from them. So far, they have planted over 30 million trees and their goal is to plant 1 billion trees by 2030. Sounds impossible? Read on.

In observation of Earth Week, tentree made it their mission to plant one tree for every ten likes that their post gets on Instagram. In just 24 hours, they reached their goal of 5,000,000 likes which means they will plant 500,000 trees!

Having a bigger belief on social media, tentree now has an updated goal which I believe is not impossible to achieve: get 20 million likes in order to plant 1 million trees. As of this writing, the post now has more than 15 million likes!

So what exactly can we do to support tentree’s cause?
  1. Go to their Instagram page and like their post.
  2. Tag your friends, celebrities, influencers, your haters, fan accounts, your crush…
  3. Share tentree’s post!
tentree also has posts on Facebook and Twitter. It will literally take you less than a second to hit like so please don’t consider this a chore!

A lot of people ask tentree why they have to earn likes in order to plant trees. This is about awareness—making a huge impact to MILLIONS of people AROUND THE WORLD. If an egg or a baby picture can get millions of likes for no reason, why not a photo that will help save the environment?

TL;DR: Like this post and help plant 1 million trees!

Visit tentree.com to know more about the company, and check out my other posts to know more about how to help in simple ways. Every small step matters!
