Feed a kid for 25 pesos a day!

How much do you spend on food for one day? PhP 100? PhP 150 for just one drink? PhP 200?

Through the ShareTheMeal app created by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), you can feed one child for a day for only US$ 0.50. That’s a whole day for just around PhP 25. The amount you spend on food for one day can feed a child for a week already!

25 pesos to feed a child for one day??? How is that enough?
According to the ShareTheMeal site, US$ 0.50 is the global average cost to feed one child for a day. WFP uses the donations to provide children food rations containing staple foods, or for cash vouchers that can be exchanged for food. You can read all about the initiative here.

25 pesos to feed a child for one day!!! How can I start helping?
  1. First of all, thank you for your kindness! Give yourself a pat on the back.
  2. Download the free ShareTheMeal app:

  1. Click Continue with Facebook or Ask Me Later
  2. Swipe left to choose a cause then tap the yellow Share The Meal button to donate. You can feed a child for:
  • 1 day for US$ 0.50 (~25 pesos),
  • 1 week for US$ 3.50 (~177 pesos),
  • 1 month for US$ 15 (~760 pesos; you can set automatic donations per month. If you don’t want your donations to be automatically debited from your account, you can set a monthly reminder using the app. You can even set daily reminders so you can donate while you’re having your regular meals!), or
  • as long or as often as you can! There are options to feed more than one child for more than one year.

  1. Donate via PayPal, debit card, or credit card.
You can join or create teams with friends to fight hunger together. You can also create challenges and aim for achievements listed on the app (like earn the Social Butterfly award when you connect your Facebook account). The ShareTheMeal initiative has been around since 2015 but I only discovered it when the company I work for recently joined the campaign. Imagine how many kids will be fed when you share this initiative to your friends! Spread the word!
